HB 50 -- DEATH PENALTY

Currently, the punishment for first degree murder is either the death penalty or life imprisonment without eligibility for parole. This bill eliminates the punishment of the death penalty. Any person previously sentenced to death prior to August 28, 2021, will be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole instead.

This bill is similar to HB 1277 (2020); and HB 64 (2019).
