This bill requires the Family Support Division within the Department of Social Services to follow the federal eligibility redetermination and renewal process when conducting annual eligibility verification. Currently, cases are closed unless the family responds to a verification request. Federal law requires the agency to consider other means of verifying income eligibility before requesting verification information from the recipient and that eligibility be considered for each individual in every case.
This bill requires conducting state and federal data matches for each medical assistance applicant and recipient, and consideration of additional data provided by the applicant or recipient. It also requires the division to provide all licensed health care providers with access to the contact information system to have the ability to update contact information for a recipient and that any request to update contact information be completed within seven days, and that any requests not completed shall not result in a loss of benefits.
