This bill requires that if any health carrier provides that any of its benefits are payable to a certified nurse midwife for health care services, then the health carrier must pay identical benefits to any similarly certified midwife authorized to provide services, who is located within the geographic area of the health benefit plan, and is willing to meet the terms and conditions for provider participation.
The bill also requires that MO HealthNet must reimburse a certified midwife at the same rate that a certified nurse midwife would receive for providing services.
