HB 2331 -- GOOD TIME CREDIT FOR PRISONERS

The bill authorizes good time credit for up to 10 days for each month served for any offender that serves his or her sentence in an orderly and peaceable manner and participates in work and rehabilitation programs. Any violation of major institutional rules, the laws of this state, or the accumulation of minor misconduct violations exceeding six within a calendar year may result in a loss of all or a portion of any credit earned.

In addition, the bill authorizes good time credit for up to four months for each calendar year on or after January 1, 2005, for any offender that the Director of the Department of Corrections determines has a history of serving his or her sentence in an orderly and peaceable manner and participating in work and rehabilitation programs.
