SPONSOR: Price

Currently, any person convicted of a dangerous felony is required to serve at least 85% of his or her sentence. This bill specifies that, if a person convicted of a dangerous felony has no previous commitments to the Department of Corrections for any felony offense unrelated to the present offense, the minimum prison term the offender must serve will be 50% of his or her sentence or until the offender reaches the age of 60 and has served at least 40% of the imposed sentence, whichever occurs first.
