SB 928 - Under current law, a health care practitioner shall not accept any portion of a controlled substance unused by a patient if the practitioner did not originally dispense the drug, unless as part of an authorized drug disposal program. This act permits a non-dispensing practitioner to accept the unused controlled substance when the controlled substance is prescribed to the patient and delivered to the practitioner to administer to the patient. Practitioners shall maintain records and secure the medication.

This act is identical to provisions in the truly agreed to and finally passed SS/SCS/HCS/HB 1682 (2020).
