SB 863 - Under this act, a certified registered nurse anesthetist may issue orders for and administer controlled substances, included in Schedules II, III, IV, and V, for and during the course of providing anesthesia services to a patient, provided certain requirements are met.

In the provision of anesthesia services, a certified registered nurse anesthetist shall be authorized to perform certain functions set forth in the act, and shall be supervised by a physician, dentist, or podiatrist. The provision of anesthesia services shall be in compliance with any specific requirements of the physician, dentist, or podiatrist, in addition to facility policies, protocols, standing orders, or staff bylaws.

A certified registered nurse anesthetist shall not be required, under this act, to possess prescriptive authority or a written collaborative agreement to provide such anesthesia services.

This act is substantially similar to HB 2057 (2020).
