This bill requires the Department of Corrections to arrange for an offender, prior to his or her release, to receive a driver's license or a nondriver's license. The department does not need to act if the offender elects not to receive a license prior to his or her release.
The bill also requires the department to assist an offender, prior to his or her release, in completing an initial application for SNAP benefits and applying for any public transit benefits available in the region where the offender will reside.
This bill is similar to HB 903 (2019).
