HB 2053 -- SCHOOL STARTING DATE

Currently, beginning with the 1920-21 school year, school districts are required to set the opening day of each year to no earlier than 14 calendar days prior to the first Monday in September, unless the board of the district holds a public meeting and a majority of the board vote to allow an earlier opening date. This bill changes the start date to no earlier than 10 calendar days prior to the first Monday in September.
