HB 2043 -- ADOPTION PROTECTION ACT

SPONSOR: Baker

This bill creates the "Adoption Protection Act".

The bill prohibits any agency that is responsible for finding a housing placement for a child, other than the child's home with its parents or guardians, from being required to make a placement that violates the agency's sincerely held religious beliefs.

The bill further states that no agency acting in accordance with its written and documented publicly held religious beliefs shall be punished or denied access to participation in programs in which they would otherwise be eligible.

The bill does not apply to an agency contracting with the Children's Division within the Department of Social Services as a case management contractor.
