This bill requires that 72 hours prior to performing an abortion, the physician who is to perform the abortion or a qualified professional, must perform an ultrasound. Simultaneously with the ultrasound, the person must provide an explanation of what the ultrasound is depicting, the number of unborn children, the location of each, and provide the ability for the woman to hear the heartbeat, or inform her of the baby s death.
The bill allows the woman to avert her eyes from the ultrasound or request that the volume of the heartbeat be turned off or reduced.
