HB 1755 -- NOTARY PUBLIC FEES

This bill changes the maximum notary public fee from $2 to $5, but the fee must not exceed $10 per document. A notary public is permitted to charge less than the maximum fee and may waive any fees. This provision of the bill sunsets on December 31st, five years after the effective date.

This bill prohibits a notary from charging or collecting a fee for notarizing the signature on an absentee ballot or absentee voter registration.

A notary who charges more than the above specified maximum fess or charges for notarizing the signature on an absentee ballot or absentee voter registration is guilty of official misconduct.
