Beginning October 1, 2020, this bill reduces the state sales and use tax rate on retail sales of feminine hygiene products to equal the reduced state sales tax rate imposed on the retail sale of food.

This bill is similar to HB 747 (2019).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill addresses the cost that presents a significant barrier to women to be able to go to school, work, and be productive citizens.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Neely; Associated Students of the University of Missouri; American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri; and American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
