This bill requires the Secretary of State's office to implement voter registration based on information provided by specified state agencies and institutions. The Department of Revenue will provide driver license information as specified in the bill. Local election authorities will accept nonbinding recommendations and verify whether individuals should be added to voter registration lists. They will retain ultimate authority over voter registration lists and the removal of names. An option to decline registration is available and shall be kept confidential. The automatic registration provisions of this bill are subject to appropriation.
This bill is the same as HB 990 (2019).
