HB 855 -- INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR FERTILITY TREATMENTS

This bill requires health benefit plans, beginning August 28, 2019, to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. Coverage for certain procedures is required only where less costly treatments have been unsuccessful, the patient has not undergone a certain number of prior procedures and the procedures are performed at medical facilities that conform to the in vitro fertilization standards of the American College of Obstetric and Gynecology or the American Fertility Society.

This bill contains an exemption for religious organizations that find the procedures to violate their religious and moral teachings and beliefs.

This bill is similar to SB 92 (2019).
