COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass with HCS" by the Standing Committee on Children and Families by a vote of 9 to 2. Voted "Do Pass" by the Rules- Legislative Oversight Committee by a vote of 11 to 0.

This bill requires course materials and instruction relating to human sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases to contain information about sexual harassment, sexual violence, and consent, as such terms are defined in the bill.

This bill is similar to SB 788 (2018).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill is necessary because many children do not know what constitutes sexual abuse and such education will help children recognize sexual abuse not just in childhood, but throughout life.
