HB 2078 -- PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

SPONSOR: Carpenter

This bill repeals the "Strengthening Missouri Families Act," which modifies the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and other provisions of SB 24 (2015). The bill re-establishes a 60-month lifetime limit for TANF benefits and removes the cash diversion program which grants eligible TANF recipients lump-sum cash grants for short-term needs in lieu of signing up for long-term assistance. The bill also removes a standardized program orientation for TANF recipients.
