HB 1761 -- STUDENT DATA COLLECTION

This bill prohibits school districts from collecting biometric information on students without the express written consent of parents or legal guardians.

For this provision, "biometric information" means a record of one or more measurable biological data or behavioral characteristics, that can be used for automated recognition including fingerprints, retina and iris patterns, voice prints, DNA sequence, newborn screening information, facial characteristics, and handwriting.

This bill is the same as HB 201 (2017) and HB 1849 (2016).
