1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Jewish War Veterans organization on their 125th anniversary.
1.3WHEREAS, the Jewish War Veterans was established in 1896 by veterans of the Civil War;
1.4and
1.5WHEREAS, the Jewish War Veterans is the oldest active national veteran service organization
1.6in the United States; and
1.7WHEREAS, there are over 15,000 Jewish war veterans throughout the country and around
1.8130 members in Minnesota; and
1.9WHEREAS, armed forces members of Jewish faith have fought in every conflict that the
1.10United States has been involved in since the Revolutionary War; and
1.11WHEREAS, 17 Jewish war veterans have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor;
1.12and
1.13WHEREAS, the Jewish War Veterans honor patriotic Jewish service and affinity; and
1.14WHEREAS, in Minnesota the state chapter of the Jewish war veterans is celebrating 125
1.15years of existence in 2021; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17congratulates the Jewish War Veterans organization on their 125th anniversary of outstanding
1.18service to their country.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Jewish War Veterans
1.22organization.
