A bill for an act
relating to health care; authorizing the commissioner of human services to award
a grant to a nonprofit organization that serves the Somali community for outreach,
training, and distribution of naloxone kits; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $500,000 in fiscal year 2022 and $500,000 in fiscal year 2023 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of human services to award a grant to a nonprofit
organization that serves the Somali community with locations in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and
Moorhead for the purpose of providing culturally appropriate outreach, training, and
distribution of naloxone kits on a statewide basis. The grantee may use grant money to focus
on expanding naloxone distribution through strategic partnerships with counties that have
high immigrant, minority, and low-income populations.
