A bill to amend 1980 PA 299, entitled
"Occupational code,"
by amending section 2010 (MCL 339.2010), as amended by 1992 PA 103.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 2010. (1) A firm may engage in the practice of
2 architecture, professional engineering, or professional surveying
3 in this state, if not less than 2/3 of the principals of the firm
4 are licensees.
5 (2) However, a nonlicensed principal and the principal's firm

1 shall apply for and receive an approval from the department to
2 engage in the practice of architecture, professional engineering,
3 or professional surveying, if the conduct of the firm and its
4 principals comply with rules promulgated by the department.
5 (3) Upon request by the department, a firm shall report to the
6 department the names and addresses of its principals, persons in
7 responsible charge, unlicensed principals, and any other
8 information the department considers necessary.
9 (4) A firm shall employ a person in responsible charge in the
10 field of services offered at each place of business in this state
11 where services are offered by the firm, except at a field office
12 which provides only a review of construction.
13 (5) This section does not apply to a design-builder as that
14 term is defined in section 1a of 1937 PA 306, MCL 388.851a.
15 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect
16 unless Senate Bill No. 314 of the 102nd Legislature is enacted into
17 law.
