House Bill 6039 and House Bill 6040 would amend the Career and Technical Preparation Act and the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act, respectively, to allow an eligible student enrolled in a career and technical preparation program or in a postsecondary institution, as applicable, to participate in intercollegiate athletics if the student met the following requirements:

--       The eligible student was enrolled in an early middle college program.

--       The eligible student was in his or her fifth year of high school in an early middle college program.

--       The eligible student was not eligible to participate in interscholastic athletic activities in the high school, but not because of ineligibility.

"Early middle college program" would mean a five-year high school program.
