SENATE BILL NO. 317

A bill to amend 1976 PA 442, entitled

"Freedom of information act,"

(MCL 15.231 to 15.246) by adding section 12.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 12. By not later than April 1, 2021, every public body that is a department of this state shall create an internet website devoted solely to publication of all the department's public records related to COVID-19 and the COVID-19 pandemic and shall, by April 1, 2021, post to that website all such public records that are possessed, maintained, or otherwise controlled by the department as of March 18, 2021. Every department shall further post to its website required by this section every public record related to COVID-19 or the COVID-19 pandemic prepared, received, or otherwise acquired by the department after March 18, 2021 within 14 days after its acquisition. A website required by this section must, at a minimum, allow a member of the public to search its records by date and author. The exemptions in section 13(1) do not apply to public records required to be released under this section.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act shall be known and may be cited as the "Michigan COVID   19 transparency act".
