A resolution to call on the National Guard Bureau to immediately end the current food contract for the 1,000 Michigan National Guard Service members deployed to Washington, D.C., and provide a per diem food allowance backdated to the start of the mobilization.

Whereas, Thousands of Michigan National Guard Troops have been deployed in our Nation   s Capital since mid-January to assist with security for the Inauguration and in the days following; and

Whereas, They have proudly answered the call, served our country, and continue to make our state proud; and

Whereas, In recent weeks there have been reports of soldiers being served undercooked and contaminated food; and

Whereas, This is unacceptable and an embarrassment to the D.C. leadership accountable for this mission; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we call on the National Guard Bureau to end the food contract for the 1,000 Michigan National Guard currently deployed to Washington, D.C., and provide a per diem food allowance backdated to the start of the mobilization; and be it further

Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau and the Adjutant General and Director of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
