1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §1760, sub-§107 is enacted to read:
3 107. Monetary metals. Beginning January 1, 2022, sales of gold and silver, including:
4 A. Coins with gold or silver content; and
5 B. Refined gold or silver bullion that is coined, stamped or imprinted with its weight
6 and purity and the value of which is based primarily on its metal content and not its
7 form.
8 SUMMARY
9 This bill exempts from state sales and use taxes the sale of gold and silver, including
10 coins with gold or silver content and refined gold or silver bullion coined, stamped or
11 imprinted with its weight and purity and the value of which is based primarily on its metal
12 content and not its form.
