1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §1483, sub-§12, as amended by PL 2009, c. 434, §20, is further
3 amended to read:
4 12. Certain veterans. Automobiles owned by veterans who are granted free
5 registration of those vehicles by the Secretary of State under Title 29‑A, section 523,
6 subsection 1 or who provide certification from the United States Department of Veterans
7 Affairs or any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States that they are permanently
8 disabled and receive benefits based on a rating of 100% for service-connected disability;
9 SUMMARY
10 This bill provides a motor vehicle excise tax exemption for veterans who are receiving
11 benefits based on 100% permanent service-connected disability.
