1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §7864 is enacted to read:
3 §7864. Transitional housing for persons experiencing abuse, dangerous living
4 conditions, economic insecurity due to divorce or separation, chronic
5 homelessness, substance use disorder or mental disorders
6 The department shall, in every county of the State or by region, if all counties are
7 provided for, coordinate and arrange for transitional housing and services including job
8 training and health care services for persons in need of transitional housing, including those
9 experiencing abuse, dangerous living conditions, economic insecurity due to divorce or
10 separation, chronic homelessness, substance use disorder or mental disorders, including
11 post-traumatic stress disorder.
12 Sec. 2. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and
13 allocations are made.

15 Transitional housing for persons experiencing abuse, dangerous living conditions,
16 economic insecurity due to divorce or separation, chronic homelessness, substance
17 use disorder or mental disorders
18 Initiative: Provides ongoing funding to support transitional housing under the Maine
19 Revised Statutes, Title 22, section 7864.

21 This bill directs the Department of Health and Human Services to coordinate and
26
22 arrange for transitional housing and services including job training and health care services
27
23 for persons in need of transitional housing, including those experiencing abuse, dangerous
28
24 living conditions, economic insecurity due to divorce or separation, chronic homelessness,
29
25 substance use disorder or mental disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder, in
30
26 every county of the State or by region if all counties are provided for. It also provides an
31
27 ongoing appropriation of $8,000,000 beginning in fiscal year 2022-23.
