1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2927, sub-§3-C, as enacted by PL 2015, c. 230, §1, is amended
3 to read:
4 3-C. Payment for standardized Standardized dispatch protocols for fire 9-1-1
5 calls. To assist public safety answering points in the adoption and implementation of
6 standardized dispatch protocols for answering fire 9-1-1 calls, the bureau shall use up to 5¢
7 of each surcharge collected under subsections 1-E and 1-F to provide public safety
8 answering points dispatcher training consistent with the protocols, necessary software and
9 printed support materials. The bureau shall provide quality assurance training and software
10 to assist public safety answering points in ensuring compliance with the protocols.:
11 A. The bureau shall adopt rules related to the adoption, implementation and
12 administration of Eliminate standardized dispatch protocols for answering fire 9-1-1
13 calls. Rules adopted pursuant to this paragraph are routine technical rules as defined
14 in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2‑A.
15 SUMMARY
16 This bill eliminates the funding requirement for standardized dispatch protocols for fire
17 9-1-1 calls and directs the Public Utilities Commission, Emergency Services
18 Communication Bureau to eliminate the protocols.
