1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2015 is enacted to read:
3 §2015. Participation in federal firearm confiscation or buy-back program
4 Any use of a law enforcement agency or officer in a federal firearm confiscation or
5 buy-back program requires approval by a majority vote of each House of the Legislature
6 and approval by the Governor.
7 Sec. 2. Application. This Act applies to a federal confiscation or buy-back program
8 for a firearm or ammunition magazine legally owned on or before January 1, 2021.
9 SUMMARY
10 This bill requires a majority vote of each House of the Legislature and approval by the
11 Governor for any use of a law enforcement officer or agency in a federal firearm
12 confiscation or buy-back program. This bill applies to any firearm or ammunition magazine
13 legally owned on or before January 1, 2021.
