1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 3 MRSA §170-C is enacted to read:
3 §170-C. Required training regarding media literacy
4 All Legislators and legislative staff shall attend and complete a course of in-person
5 education and training on media literacy at the beginning of each regular session of the
6 Legislature. The Legislative Council shall develop and implement this course of education
7 and training to assist Legislators and legislative staff to recognize disinformation and
8 misinformation.
9 SUMMARY
10 This bill requires the Legislative Council to provide training to all Legislators and
11 legislative staff, at the beginning of each regular session of the Legislature, on media
12 literacy. The purpose of the training is to help Legislators and legislative staff recognize
13 disinformation and misinformation.
