1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 17 MRSA §1837-A, sub-§7 is enacted to read:
3 7. Raffle by mail. All eligible organizations under section 1832, subsection 2, when
4 conducting a raffle authorized under this section, may offer raffle tickets for purchase by
5 mail. An organization offering raffle tickets for purchase by mail under this subsection
6 shall ensure that any person purchasing a raffle ticket offered by the organization by mail
7 is at least 21 years of age.
8 SUMMARY
9 This bill allows bona fide nonprofit organizations, agricultural societies and volunteer
10 fire departments, when conducting an authorized raffle, to offer raffle tickets for purchase
11 by mail and requires the organization to ensure that any person purchasing a raffle ticket
12 by mail is at least 21 years of age.
