 1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §9 is enacted to read:
3 §9. Public notice; electronic posting
4 Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, any obligation of a county or
5 county official to provide notice in a newspaper of general circulation in the area is met by
6 electronic posting on the publicly accessible website of the county government.
7 Sec. 2. 30-A MRSA §2007 is enacted to read:
8 §2007. Public notice; electronic posting
9 Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, any obligation of a municipality
10 or municipal official to provide notice in a newspaper of general circulation in the area is
11 met by electronic posting on the publicly accessible website of the municipality.
12 SUMMARY
13 This bill allows county and municipal governments and officials to meet the
14 requirement to provide public notice in a newspaper by electronic posting on the county's
15 or municipality's publicly accessible website.
