1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 1 MRSA §402, sub-§7 is enacted to read:
3 7. Public records; complaints alleging violations of orders, codes or license
4 provisions. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, "public record" includes
5 the name or identity of any person who files a complaint alleging a violation of an order,
6 code, license provision or any other requirement placed upon a person by a government
7 official or agency under the laws or rules of the State or any government subdivision of the
8 State.
9 SUMMARY
10 This bill requires under the Freedom of Access Act the name or identity of any person
11 who files a complaint alleging a violation of an order, code, license provision or any other
12 requirement placed upon a person by a government official or agency under the laws or
13 rules of the State or any government subdivision of the State to be made public upon
14 request.
