1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 26 MRSA §565-C is enacted to read:
3 §565-C. Maximum temperatures and minimum temperatures in indoor places of
4 employment
5 1. Indoor temperatures. An employer shall maintain indoor temperatures at
6 workplaces to ensure safe and healthful conditions of employees according to rules adopted
7 by the board.
8 2. Rules. The board shall adopt rules establishing maximum and minimum
9 temperatures for indoor places of employment pursuant to this section. Rules adopted
10 pursuant to this section are major substantive rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375,
11 subchapter 2-A.
12 SUMMARY
13 This bill requires the Department of Labor, Board of Occupational Safety and Health
14 to establish minimum temperatures and maximum temperatures in indoor places of
15 employment.
