1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and
3 allocations are made.
4 ST. CROIX INTERNATIONAL WATERWAY COMMISSION
5 St. Croix International Waterway Commission 0576
6 Initiative: Increases ongoing funding to the St. Croix International Waterway Commission
7 to cover increased operational costs and for a portion of the cost of one full-time
8 Administrative Assistant position. The funding is contingent upon the Province of New
9 Brunswick, Canada providing a matching amount to the commission.

10 Sec. 2. Contingent effective date. Section 1 of this Act does not take effect unless
15
11 the St. Croix International Waterway Commission notifies the Commissioner of
16
12 Environmental Protection and the State Controller that the Province of New Brunswick,
17
13 Canada has committed to providing at least $25,000 per fiscal year to cover the increased
18
14 operational costs of the commission and a portion of the cost of one full-time
19
15 Administrative Assistant position. The State Controller shall notify the Revisor of Statutes
20
16 upon receipt of notification from the St. Croix International Waterway Commission that
21
17 the Province of New Brunswick, Canada has committed to providing funding under this
22
18 section.
23 SUMMARY
24 This bill provides an additional $25,000 per fiscal year to the St. Croix International
25 Waterway Commission but only if the Province of New Brunswick, Canada commits to
26 match the funding.
