1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2 Sec. 1. 14 MRSA §1213, sub-§2, ¶D is enacted to read:
3 D. A person who served in the United States Armed Forces and received an honorable
4 discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions who does not wish to serve
5 on a jury is excused from jury service.
6 SUMMARY
7 This bill allows a veteran who does not wish to serve as a juror to be excused from jury
8 duty. The veteran must have received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under
9 honorable conditions to qualify for the jury service excuse.
