Printed on recycled paper 1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

2 Sec. 1. 30 MRSA c. 601, as amended, is repealed. 3 Sec. 2. Contingent effective date. This Act takes effect 120 days after 4 adjournment of the First Regular Session of the 129th Legislature only if, within 90 days 5 after the adjournment of the First Regular Session of the 129th Legislature, the Secretary 6 of State receives written certification from the Houlton Band Council of the Houlton 7 Band of Maliseet Indians that the band has agreed to the provisions of this Act, written 8 certification from the Tribal Chief and the Council of the Penobscot Nation that the 9 nation has agreed to the provisions of this Act and written certification from the Joint 10 Tribal Council of the Passamaquoddy Tribe that the tribe has agreed to the provisions of 11 this Act pursuant to 25 United States Code, Section 1725(e), copies of which must be 12 submitted by the Secretary of State to the Secretary of the Senate, the Clerk of the House 13 and the Revisor of Statutes.

14 SUMMARY 15 This bill repeals An Act to Implement the Maine Indian Claims Settlement. The 16 repeal does not take effect unless approved by the Houlton Band Council of the Houlton 17 Band of Maliseet Indians, the Tribal Chief and the Council of the Penobscot Nation and 18 the Joint Tribal Council of the Passamaquoddy Tribe within 90 days after the 19 adjournment of the First Regular Session of the 129th Legislature.
