A BILL ENTITLED
1 AN ACT concerning
2 Major Information Technology Development Project Fund – Use of Funds
3 FOR the purpose of requiring that certain money paid into the Major Information
4 Technology Development Fund shall be used to support a certain State
5 telecommunication and computer network and the Statewide Public Safety
6 Interoperability Radio System; authorizing the Secretary of Information Technology
7 to determine the portion of certain funds that may be allocated to certain programs;
8 and generally relating to the Major Information Technology Development Project

20 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND,
21 That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

1 (a) There is a Major Information Technology Development Project Fund.
2 (b) The purpose of the Fund is to support major information technology
3 development projects.
4 (l) (1) Notwithstanding subsection (b) of this section AND IN ACCORDANCE
5 WITH PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION, money paid into the Fund under subsection
6 (e)(2) of this section [may] SHALL be used to support:
7 (I) the State telecommunication and computer network established
8 under § 3A–404 of this title, including program development for these activities; AND
THE STATEWIDE PUBLIC SAFETY INTEROPERABILITY
10 RADIO SYSTEM, ALSO KNOWN AS MARYLAND FIRST (FIRST RESPONDER
11 INTEROPERABLE RADIO SYSTEM TEAM), UNDER TITLE 1, SUBTITLE 5 OF THE
12 PUBLIC SAFETY ARTICLE.
13 (2) THE SECRETARY MAY DETERMINE THE PORTION OF THE MONEY
14 PAID INTO THE FUND THAT SHALL BE ALLOCATED TO EACH PROGRAM DESCRIBED
15 IN PARAGRAPH (1) OF THIS SUBSECTION.
16 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July
17 1, 2021.
