An Act relative to snow and ice removal by commercial vehicle owners and operators.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Chapter 90 of the general laws shall be amended by adding after section
2 14C, the following new section:
3 Section 14D. No commercial motor vehicle shall be operated on public roads and no
4 owner of such vehicle shall allow operation of such vehicle on a public road with any
5 accumulation of snow or ice on the roof of such vehicle. It shall be the responsibility of the
6 owner as well as the operator of such vehicle to ensure the removal of accumulated snow and ice
7 from a vehicle before the vehicle is operated on any public road.
8 Commercial vehicle operators who violate any provision of this section shall be punished
9 by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars for each offense which does not cause personal
10 injury or property damage and not less than ten thousand dollars for offenses resulting in
11 personal injury or property damage.
