An Act Relative to PERAC benefits during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION. 1. Section 21 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018
2 official edition, is hereby amended by inserting after subsection (1)(d) the following new
3 subsection:
4 “ (e) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, pursuant to the
5 Massachusetts state of emergency related to COVID-19 declared on March 10, 2020, the public
6 employee retirement administration commission may review and amend the amount of
7 allowance distributed to members under section 7 subsection (2) of said chapter 32. Provided
8 further, that while conducting the review, the commission shall consider the feasibility and
9 economic impact of providing payments greater than the amount provided in said subsection (2)”
10 SECTION 2. Section 1 is hereby repealed.
11 SECTION 3. Section 2 shall take effect 180 days after termination of the March 10, 2020
12 declaration of state of emergency by the Governor.
