General Court for legislation to provide survivor benefits to Ava Roy, the
daughter of fallen firefighter Christopher Roy, and the petition
(accompanied by bill, House, No. 4776) of John J. Mahoney, Hannah
Kane and others relative to providing survivor benefits to Ava Roy, the
daughter of fallen firefighter Christopher Roy, reports recommending that
the accompanying bill (House, No. 4826) ought to pass.

An Act providing survivor benefits to Ava Roy, the daughter of fallen firefighter Christopher
Roy.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, and in order to
2 promote the public good, the Worcester Retirement Board shall pay the annual pension amount
3 that otherwise would have been paid to a surviving spouse pursuant to section 100 of chapter 32
4 of the General Laws to the legal guardian of Ava Roy for her benefit until she attains the age of
5 majority, at which point such annual pension amount shall be paid directly to her until she attains
6 the age of twenty-six.
7 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect as of December 9, 2018.
