An Act relative to increased consumer protections during a state of emergency.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Chapter 93A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official
2 Edition, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following section:-
3 Section 12. Any person in violation of this chapter, while employing such method, act or
4 practice during the governor’s declaration of a state of emergency, shall be subject to a fine of
5 two times the amount otherwise in effect for the violation issued, and such orders or judgments
6 as may be necessary to restore any person who has suffered any ascertainable loss of any moneys
7 or property, real or personal, or up to five but not less than three times that amount.
8 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
