EXPENDITURE EXPLANATION
To the extent the Department of State has already incurred costs pursuant to Act 5 of the 2022 First Extraordinary Session
that would be duplicated to implement proposed law, the department will likely experience additional expenditures of an
indeterminable amount. If the compressed time frame of implementing proposed law creates additional costs for the
department to cover the additional workload and any overtime costs, the department will incur additional expenditures of an
indeterminable amount. The Department of State reports that will presumably incur additional expenditures associated with
mailing voter notification cards, necessary to notify voters of a congressional district change. The number of cards that
would be distributed is indeterminable until the configuration of the new district maps is determined. Each card costs $0.44
to mail.
The department is working to get estimates of any additional costs related to duplicative costs and/or increased workload. If
the Legislative Fiscal Office receives feedback from the department, this fiscal note will be updated accordingly.
REVENUE EXPLANATION
There is no anticipated direct material effect on governmental revenues as a result of this measure.
