Existing law provides that a judge may issue a warrant authorizing the search for and seizure
of anything within the territorial jurisdiction of the court which has been the subject of theft,
is intended for use or has been used as a means of committing an offense, or which may
constitute evidence tending to provide the commission of a crime.
New law provides that the odor of marijuana alone shall not provide a law enforcement
officer with probable cause to conduct a search of a person's place of residence.
Effective August 1, 2022.
