Provides relative to the collection and sharing of certain student information
Proposed legislation requires public school governing authorities to collect social security numbers of high school students
and share them with the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) for the purpose of evaluating state and federal programs
that prepare high school students for postsecondary education, workforce training, and employment. Requires consent of the
parents or legal guardians for students who have not yet reached the age of majority. Requires the LWC to remove social
security numbers from the data and, until the student reaches the age of 26, provide (1) wage data, (2) North American
Industry Classification System data through the third digit, and (3) Standard Occupational Classification System data to the
Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) and the Industry-Based Certification Committee for the express purpose of state
and federal program evaluation. Proposed legislation requires the LWC to match the student information with employment
data.
