Provides relative to the Video Draw Poker Device Fund. (gov sig)
Current law provides for the distribution of monies in the Video Draw Poker Device Fund. Pursuant to 27:437(C)(1), 25% of the funds are
distributed as follows: (1) $5.4 M to the district attorneys; (2) to the governing authorities of municipalities and parishes in which video
poker devices are operated, and to the sheriff of each such parish; and (3) an amount allocated to the Department of Public Safety &
Corrections and to the Department of Justice pursuant to legislative appropriation. Any unexpended or unencumbered monies remaining
shall revert to the state general fund.
Proposed law retains present law, but amends the provisions related to the reversion of funds to the state general fund. Provides any
unexpended and unencumbered at the end of the fiscal year after the 25% allocation is made pursuant to current law shall not revert to
the state general fund but shall be distributed in accordance with current law. Proposed law also provides that any remaining portion of
the 75% of the unexpended or unencumbered monies in the fund at the end of the fiscal year shall revert to the state general fund.

EXPENDITURE EXPLANATION
There is no anticipated direct material effect on governmental expenditures as a result of this measure.
REVENUE EXPLANATION
There will be an indeterminable increase in revenue to the governing authorities of municipalities and parishes in which video
draw poker devices are operated, and to the sheriff of each such parish to the extent that unexpended or unencumbered
monies that would have reverted to the state general fund under current law are now allocated to those municipalities,
parishes, or sheriffs.
There will be an indeterminable decrease in revenue to SGF to the extent that unexpended or unencumbered
monies that would have reverted to the state general fund under current law will be allocated to municipalities,
parishes, or sheriffs as outlined in the proposed legislation.
For informational purposes the following amounts from the Video Draw Poker Device Fund reverted back to the
state general fund:
