EXPENDITURE EXPLANATION
There may be an increase in local fund expenditures by the amount collected in fees as a result of this measure.
According to the Tensas Parish Coroner, money generated from these fees will be used to pay expenditures of his office that
are currently paid using his own money. Therefore, local governmental expenditures will increase as money generated from
these fees is used to defray the cost of the Coroner’s office. While we do not have information for the coroners for East
Carroll Parish and Madison Parish, we expect similar increases in expenditures for these coroner offices as they spend money
generated by these fees for the purposes set forth in the bill.
REVENUE EXPLANATION
This bill may increase local fund revenues by an indeterminable amount.
Based on criminal case data provided by the District Attorney’s Offices for East Carroll Parish and Tensas Parish and the
Mayors’ Court in Richmond, we estimate that this bill may increase local governmental revenue by up to $43,020 annually
(4,302 cases annually x $10 per case) for criminal cases handled by these entities. However, the overall impact of this bill is
indeterminable at this time due to a lack of complete criminal case data for courts in East Carroll Parish, Madison Parish, and
Tensas Parish.
