Creates and provides for the office of the state Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator within the division of
administration
Proposed law creates the office of the state Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator within the office of the
governor, division of administration. Proposed law provides for an executive director who shall have the title of state ADA
coordinator. The state ADA coordinator shall be in the classified state civil service and shall employ staff as necessary to
carry out the duties of the office. Proposed law provides for definitions, powers, and duties.

EXPENDITURE EXPLANATION
Proposed law will result in a SGF expenditure increase to the Division of Administration (DOA) to hire the state ADA
coordinator and the administrative costs for office space, supplies, travel, etc., for the establishment of the office. The DOA
reports that the estimated cost of salary and related benefits for the state ADA coordinator is approximately $140,000 based
on the midpoint of the pay range for the Statewide Program Manager in the classified service. There is no way to know the
cost of other staff without knowing duties and number of employees. Experienced professional staff would likely cost around
$120,000 annually for salary and related benefits. The Attorney 4 and HR Manager A job titles were used to determine this
estimate. Additional costs include training and certification of all staff, which can cost $500 - $1,000 per person. Expected
administrative costs for office space, supplies, travel, etc., will apply to the out-year expenditures determined by the number
of personnel ultimately employed in the office and the activities undertaken.
REVENUE EXPLANATION
There is no anticipated direct material effect on governmental revenues as a result of this measure.
