ACT 417 (HB 119) 2021 Regular Session Hughes
Existing law provides for the Advisory Council on Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs) and requires the council to advise the commissioner of higher
education and the Bd. of Regents regarding best practices for strengthening HBCUs.
New law increases the council's membership from 23 to 24 by adding an HBCU student body
president. Requires the council to submit an annual report to the legislative education
committees detailing its findings and recommendations.
Effective August 1, 2021.
(Amends R.S. 17:3138.7(B)(intro. para.); Adds R.S. 17:3138.7(B)(24) and (25) and (G)(4))
