ACT 150 (HB 86) 2021 Regular Session Beaullieu
Existing law provides that in each parish, except Orleans and Jefferson, the parish executive
committee of a recognized political party shall be composed of five members elected at large
from the parish and as many members as there are members of the parish governing authority
elected, one each, from the districts or wards from which the members of the parish
governing authority are elected.
New law adds an exception for Lafayette Parish and provides that, in Lafayette Parish, the
parish executive committee of a recognized political party shall be composed of one member
elected from each councilmanic district and nine members elected at large from the parish.
Effective upon signature of governor (June 11, 2021).
